Back from "Jurassic Park"

Honolulu was nice, but oh gracious...Kauai was spectacular! By the way, something I learned while preparing to visit there was that parts of Jurassic Park were filmed on the island of Kauai.

More on that below...
We went to eat at The Ocean House which is an open air restaurant on the beach. Gorgeous view (seen below) and such delicious food. The "appetizer bread" was the best part! Bread...my biggest downfall.

This was our view as we ate dinner that night...
And here's all five of us at dinner (we dined with the Woodroof family--Jon, Stacy, and Parker).

We visited Waimea Canyon, also known as The Grand Canyon of the Pacific. It's the largest canyon in the Pacific and is breathtaking. It's ten miles long, a mile wide and more than 3,500 feet deep.

Waimea Canyon again...can't you just visualize a T-Rex down there somewhere?

And here I am at the Jurassic Park Waterfall (remember that scene in the movie?)...

This is Spouting Horn, near Poipu. This is a lava shelf where water rushes underneath and bursts through a small opening at the surface. Interesting!

And lastly, here's a distant shot of the Kilauea Lighthouse. It's the northernmost point of the main Hawaiian Islands (we ran ALL over the island of Kauai). Built in 1913, the lighthouse housed the largest lens of its kind until the 1970s when it became a historical landmark. Tons of seagulls inhabit near by "bird island."

Okay, I won't bore you anymore. Needless to say, we had a wonderful time together. But we're also glad to be home. Back to routine, and to writing The Inheritance.

BTW, From a Distance is currently being printed, and ships soon!! It should be in stores by mid May!
