June's Chocolate-Chocolate Chip Cake

Remember this cake from a post a couple of weeks ago?

Dianne requested the recipe, as did a few others via email, so here you go! I originally posted it last year (in my sweet mother's handwriting as seen below) but it's been a while, and this recipe is definitely worth posting again. Enjoy!

  1. I remember that! Yum! Thanks so much for sharing the recipe...and so special to have it in your Mom's handwriting! So sweet! I can't wait to try it. I have a similar recipe that uses vanilla cake mix instead of chocolate and you use the mini choc. chips. My hubby loves it! : ) Love making my guy happy! Now I think I need some rest...new baby on the way! : ) Love and blessings, Stacey

  3. I'm just dying to know what would happen if you used a devil's food cake mix!? ; )

Seriously though, this sounds delicious! Can't believe I haven't made it before now.

  4. LOL, Deb, I actually HAVE used a devil's food mix––not rebelliously, but because it's all I had––and the cake turned out "all right," but heavier, not quite as good as usual. Too much chocolate, perhaps? But wait, is there such a thing?

  5. YUM!! Cannot wait to bake this--thanks for sharing (and how special that it's your precious Mom's recipe). ~ One of my most treasured possessions is my Mama's Betty Crocker cookbook (from many years ago). I LOVE seeing all her handwritten notes in the margins of the pages (and also some loose papers containing recipes stuck in the book). When I read what she's written, it somehow brings her "extra close" to me again. ~ Hugs, Patti Jo p.s. Waving at Stacy - - CONGRATULATIONS on the expected little one!! :)

  6. Thanks Tammy and Patti Jo! Ya'll are great! Just went to the dr. and got to see the heartbeat...pretty amazing! Due date is April 4th. Now to make it through this first trimester tiredness and nausea...all worth it, though! I'm sure if I make that chocolate cake I'll feel much better ; ). God bless~Stacey

  7. This recipe is low cal and fat free, right? ;-) LOL Sounds good! I'll have to try it out sometime but I can't recall seeing a Duncan Hines Butter Fudge cake mix up my way (Ohio). I'll have to take a closer look at the cake section. Maybe I have and I just never noticed before.
