Arranged Marriage: the gift that keeps on giving...

Don't knock "arranged marriages." I'm just sayin...

In celebration of her newest release, THE WEDDING DRESS, author and sweet friend Rachel Hauck is hosting several authors on her blog this week...in their wedding gowns.

So step back almost 28 years with me and find out why I'm such a fan of arranged marriages! AND who was hiding in the backseat of our car as we left for the honeymoon!

Barren No More

About a month ago, Shannon Milholland of the blog Jesus and My Orange Juice (really insightful and welcoming place) asked if I’d be interested in writing about how a certain Biblical character speaks into my own personal Christmas story this year.

Shannon gave me a brief list of names and my eye went to one.

Elizabeth.

The account about Elizabeth in Luke chapter one is brief, but revealing. She was older in life, barren, unable to conceive, and bore the shame of that unwanted distinction for years and years. Yet she enjoyed the honor of giving birth to the forerunner of our Savior at so untimely a place in her life. She was called righteous, along with her husband Zachariah, and was one of the first women to be...

Booksigning at the Belmont Mansion and MORE...

Whew! It's finally Friday. Been a long week but a really good one. Hope you're ready for the weekend and that your weekend will hold exactly what you're needing, whether that be rest or play time. Mine holds lots of quiet writing time (that I'm going to guard with my life!), and I'm really looking forward to it after this whirlwind week.

The Southern Style Facebook Party on Tuesday night was a blast! Thanks to everyone for attending and for all the fun banter. Y'all are terrific! And congrats to all the winners.

Here's a transcript of the party and all the laughter (and there was plenty!), and here's a list of the giveaway winners. Take a look at all the pretty faces of the party attendees too. And yes, even a buck-toothed llama. : )

Last night I was at the Belmont Mansion for a booksigning for A Lasting Impression. I met so many new friends and saw some "old" ones too. I so appreciate the mansion's hospitality and am grateful to everyone who came. Pics are on my facebook page, with more coming as I get them.

And finally, Rachel McRae from LifeWay asked me to guest blog today. I appreciate Rachel and all that she does to promote Christian fiction. She's a woman in-the-know!

And one more thing...

If you're a writer and you're interested in knowing more about dissecting novels, check out my guest blog at Southern Writers Suite T and learn why "the first cut is the deepest." Suite T blog is a great resource for writers and is pure pleasure to read (and look at).

Blessings on your weekend,
Tammy

P.S. I almost forgot! I had a radio interview this week too with the oh-so-funny Tricia Goyer. We laughed and laughed. Find out what makes me want to pinch myself and slap myself at the same time! (It's the November 17, 2011 interview.)

The Lovin' Oven Bakery

What a treat! For woman AND dog!

I saw a tweet from friend and author Angie Hunt today and followed the trail! And this is where I ended up...

The Lovin' Oven Bakery

Angie's initial post kicked off a wonderful adventure in baking, and I love to bake so this is right up my alley. If you love to bake too (or just love to dish on baking), join us over at The Lovin' Oven Bakery.

Back to writing! And to my utter shock...my heroine suddenly has an urge to whip up something in the kitchen!

I'm posting today over at Writes of Passage too, and I'm blaming everything on the caffeine. Join us!

Isn't he the cutest thing!

Read more about sweet little Louie here, at Kevin and Amanda's blog. LOVE her blog! Kelsey and I "stalked her" in NYC a couple of weeks ago by visiting some of the bakeries she visited and eating some of the treats she recommended. Good move! Delish!

I'm cleaning off my book shelves and have some books I'm giving away...

If you're interested in being included in the drawing, click here for details.

And now I'm off to frost a Chocolate Rolo Cake. Don't know what that is? I'll tell you next time! But rest assured, it's yummy...

Deb's Peanut Butter Pie

Ready for a delicious treat this weekend? Dear friend, author, and my oh-so-wonderful writing critique partner, Deborah Raney, made a pie this week that looks to die for! I'm looking forward to making it this weekend when another writing buddy comes to visit (more on that next week, with pics!).

It's Deb's Peanut Butter Pie (which she had for breakfast this morning, ahem…). Breakfast of champions, I'm sure. And I'm happy to share it with you here. Enjoy!

And if you haven't caught Francine Rivers' blog this week. DO!! I really identified with what she said, and always, always appreciate that woman's transparency. But um, the woman is SO not an apprentice. Not in my book anyway. But let's not tell her… ;)

Back to rewrites for A Lasting Impression due out this fall.
